Johnny Depp is mad overrated in "Blow"

I saw it for the first time a few days ago, and I was expecting big things going in. I remember all this hype about Johnny's performance as George Jung back when Pirates really got big.

WTF? All he does is look like a coked-out bum and say "I need more" then get arrested something like four times... everyone is on this dude's nuts like he can do no wrong.

Depp is so overrated it's disgusting.

We back

I think its working now... hmm...

We'll celebrate with a classic video. I know, easy way out.

The internet connection at SMU is abysmal.

Don't worry, AKONPOO fans (all four of you)... I have not forgotten you.

The internet at my college is simply horrid. For some terribly cruel reason, I can never access the sites I want to (Facebook, YouTube, Allmusic, Blogger) and yet all the other 43 trillion that I don't care about load perfectly fine. The tech department has yet to think of a good excuse as to why this is happening, so for now updates might be scarce.

How 'bout that Inauguration, huh? Forget that he stumbled on the words, it was a nice ceremony. It was definitely touching to see all of the African-Americans getting emotional.

I'm taking this E295 class called "Practical Grammar and Usage", so here's hoping that my grammar improves on AKONPOO as well. I think I've already messed up several times, so I'll just stop now.

- Run-D.M.C.

- Maurice Clarett, future elite name repeater.

- Chipotle burrito

- One of my favorite pics, no real reason

- Super Smash Bros. for N64.

New Year's Resolutions

1. Run several times a week. Lose weight.

2. Drum more.

3. No snacks after dinner.

4. Get my cumulative over 3.0 (currently 2.8)

Not too lofty, right?

Here's a big one:

5. WRITE more on Akonpoo.

A blog is about writing, not embedding YouTube movies. In a rush to update, I usually cheap out and post some funny shit from YouTube or elsewhere. NOT that there's anything wrong with that, I just want to spread my brilliance and highly-opinionated stances as fast as I can.

The best blog I've read yet.

Take a second to visit Club Trillion. It's a hilarious blog written by Ohio State benchwarmer Mark Titus about his exploits on the pine.

I also love his side logo, at left. Any Run-D.M.C. reference is fine by me.

Don't judge me on this.

I'm sorry, but this girl is just too cute to pass up a blog post about her.

Something I knew has to have happened at least once... and now proof

Great NFL recap video

The 2008 NFL season is barely over, but NFL.com has put together a great highlight video to recap it all. Lane Kiffin? 0-16? Cutler/Rivers? It's all there.

Check it out here.

Can I get a phone that just makes calls?

Every time I have to buy a new phone, I try to get a non-flip phone that looks durable and doesn't have bells and whistles.

I'm 20, but I'm not a big texter and I just think the concept of taking pics/listening to music/surfing the web on your phone is really not needed.

Well when my last contract expired, I got this little guy in slate grey for $40:

I picked it because it didn't flip and it seemed durable. The sliding keyboard was a plus for the small texting I do and for typing in contact names faster.

For the last month its been plaguing me with a scrambled screen (rendered unreadable) that occurs when I slide the keyboard out. The last few weeks its been scrambling on and off for sometimes up to an hour at a time, without sliding.

I finally had to take it in today after I couldn't see the screen for two hours yesterday. Apparently they're going to send me a refurbished phone of the same kind, which will probably do the same thing.

WHAT HAPPENED TO SIMPLICITY? When are phone companies going to realize that NOT EVERYONE wants touch screens or a whole keyboard on their phone? It's called a PHONE, not a computer.

Why can't we get phones like this back?? They just make calls, not solve the world's problems!

Happy New Year

Good tidings my bloggers, for it is a new year. 2008 was a great one but 2009 has promise.

I learned a few very important things on New Year's Eve:

- 20 below fahrenheit is too cold to be outside for 60+ minutes
- Always charge your phone, especially if you are in unfamiliar surroundings
- First Avenue doesn't allow underage drinking
- 710 11th Ave SE is going to be a lot of fun this summer

I discovered most of these the (very) hard way.

Here's to a new year of blogging, hopefully I can up my viewership... I am keeping stats after all! I'd love to boost it any way possible as the more people that view, the more I will post.
