I watched three movies today

Let's see... a Sunday, no homework to do, and a small amount of hangover? Watching a movie (or three) is always a great choice. And I wasn't about to watch the Pro Bowl.

In the middle of the afternoon I took in Up in the Air, starring George Clooney. This is a great story, it's about a man who spends his life traveling the country and firing people for a living. I don't want to give away anything at all about the plot, because I really do think most people should see this. I'd give it a 8 or 9 out of 10.

After dinner, Theis came over and we watched King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. This was a pretty interesting documentary about world-record holders in classic video games... you know, the Pacman/Donkey Kong/Space Invaders type. It tracks two men in their quest to be the best at Donkey Kong - one, the world record-holder since 1982; the other, a Washington-based science teacher that simply wants to be good at something. The social elements in this were hilarious, as the hero worship of some of these gamers is truly dumbfounding and entertaining. 7 out of 10.

The last movie we watched was Gamer. Jesus Christ, this shit was a trainwreck. It's about a television show in the future where criminals fight each other for eventual freedom. The story was shitty, the editing and quick cuts were nauseating and on an MTV level, and it simply got laughable about halfway through. They played the same Marilyn Manson song twice. Gerard Butler somehow vomits and pisses in a gas tank and gets the truck to start. That should be enough to let you know that this is a 2 out of 10 movie.
